Councillor Sood was presented with the prestigious Labour Merit Award at the Labour Party Conference in September 2005 for her selfless contribution to the Labour Party. She set a benchmark as she became the first Asian female to receive such recognition. The Labour Party Conference is attended by all Labour Party Members as well as Labour Party Members of Parliament.
